Which CEnT-S Sections Count for Your University?

The short answer, from the 2026 calls:
- Economics and business (Tor Vergata, Trento for non-EU applicants, Ca' Foscari): Maths and Reasoning only.
- Teramo Business Management (open access): its OFAs were set on Maths and Reasoning.
- Polimi engineering: Maths, Reasoning and Physics.
- Sapienza Sustainable Building Engineering, Sapienza Bioinformatics and Bologna Pharmacy: every section.
In 2026 the test had five sections. Reading and comprehension is new. The calls for 2027/28 entry will say how it counts.
CISIA sets the test. Your university decides which sections count, in its call. The call (bando in Italian) is the university's admission notice. Always read your own call.
University by university
These rows come from each university's call for 2026 entry. The link is in the first column.
| University · programme | Sections counted | Score rule |
|---|---|---|
| Tor Vergata · Business Administration and Economics | Maths, Reasoning | Normalised 15 or more to reach the interview |
| Trento · Economics and Management, non-EU | Maths, Reasoning | Rescaled to 100; 60 to be eligible |
| Ca' Foscari · Economics and Business | Maths, Reasoning | Not stated in its notice |
| Teramo · Business Management | Maths, Reasoning, for the OFA | Open access. OFA below 3 right in Maths or 2 in Reasoning |
| Polimi · Engineering | Maths, Reasoning, Physics | Converted to a TOL score out of 100. Formula and minimum on Polimi's page |
| Sapienza · Sustainable Building Engineering | All | A normalised total below 18 means an OFA in Maths |
| Sapienza · Bioinformatics | All | Raw total over 18 |
| Bologna · Pharmacy, Rimini | All | Ranking for 100 places. At least normalised 5 to enter the ranking (ordinary intakes); OFA below 15 |
| Padova · Information Engineering; Economics, Governance and Decision-Making | In each programme's call | In each programme's call |
The score rules are in What score do I need? below.
Other Sapienza programmes are not in the table yet. If yours is one of them, read its own call.
Some words in the table need a short explanation:
- Normalised means your score after CISIA's fairness adjustment. See CEnT-S scoring.
- Raw means your score before that adjustment.
- Total means your whole test, all sections added up.
- OFA is an extra requirement if you score low: a course or a test. Your call says in which subject. It is not a rejection.
- Open access means there is no entry limit.
- Rescaled to 100 means turned into a score out of 100.
- Eligible means allowed to go on in the selection.
- TOL is Polimi's own entry test, scored out of 100. In 2026, Polimi turned your CEnT-S Maths, Reasoning and Physics into a TOL score. Polimi's CEnT-S page gives its formula and the minimum TOL score. Check them there for 2027/28 entry.
What score do I need?
It depends on your programme. In the 2026 calls:
- Tor Vergata: 15 or more in Maths plus Reasoning, normalised, to reach the interview.
- Trento, non-EU applicants: 60 out of 100 to be eligible.
- Ca' Foscari: its notice named the sections but gave no score.
- Teramo: open access. Fewer than 3 right in Maths, or 2 in Reasoning, meant an OFA.
- Polimi engineering: Polimi turned your Maths, Reasoning and Physics into a TOL score out of 100. The formula and the minimum TOL score are on Polimi's CEnT-S page. To set your target, put your section scores into that formula, and compare the result with the minimum.
- Padova: each programme's call gives its own rule. Padova's CEnT-S notice lists the programmes that use the test.
- Sapienza Bioinformatics: a raw total over 18.
- Sapienza Sustainable Building Engineering: a normalised total under 18 means an OFA in Maths.
- Bologna Pharmacy: a ranking for 100 places, 60 for EU applicants and 40 for non-EU applicants living abroad. The best scores get the places. You needed a normalised score of at least 5 to enter the ranking in the two ordinary intakes. Below 15, you got an OFA.
For a ranking, the score you need depends on the other applicants that year. So no fixed number is safe. Aim as high as you can in the sections that count.
Make sure your university can find your score
- Some universities take your score straight from CISIA. Bologna did in 2026.[1]
- So use exactly the same name and birth details on CISIA and on the university's site. Bologna checked first name, last name, date and place of birth.
- If your score does not show, contact the university before its deadline. In 2026, Bologna listed the applicants it could not match. They had to email their score by a set date, or they were out.
Sections that do not count for you
In 2026, you could remove sections your call did not need. You did this on the start screen of the test online from home (@HOME).[2] CISIA's guide describes this only for the test at home. Do it only if your call says you may. In 2026, Sapienza Sustainable Building Engineering required every section.
If you sit a section that does not count for you, keep it simple:
- Answer only when you can rule out at least one option.
- Leave the rest blank. A blank scores 0.
- A wrong guess lowers that section's score. That matters only if another university you apply to counts it.
How to use this page
- Find your programme in the table, or open its call.
- Note which sections count. Note if the mark is normalised or raw.
- For 2027/28 entry, check what the new call says about Reading.
- Plan your study time to match. If only Maths and Reasoning count, put your hours there.
- When practice opens, practise only the sections your university counts.
Can I send a SAT score instead?
Only if your call says so. In 2026:
- Sapienza Sustainable Building Engineering accepted the CEnT-S or the SAT. A SAT score below 800 out of 1600 meant an OFA in Maths.
- Bologna Genomics used the SAT or the Italian TOLC-I, not the CEnT-S.
- Polimi engineering accepted the CEnT-S as an alternative to its own TOL test.
- Any other programme, Polimi and Padova included: its call says if it takes the SAT, and the score it needs.
Your call lists every test it accepts.
Your programme is not here?
Then its own call is the only source. Search the call for "CEnT-S". It says if the programme uses the test, which sections count and the score it needs.
Not every English-taught programme uses the CEnT-S. In 2026, Bologna's Genomics programme used the SAT or the Italian TOLC-I instead.
These universities use or host the test. Their programmes are not in the table yet:
- Bolzano, Cassino, Firenze, Messina and Perugia.
- Pavia, Pisa, Trieste and Udine.
- Milano (Statale), Milano-Bicocca and Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli".
- Brescia, Siena and Chieti-Pescara.
Send your call to contact@centsprep.it and we will add it.
