More information

Practice for the CEnT-S, the way CISIA runs it: six sections, six timers and the same scoring. You will also be able to practise only the sections your university counts. Is your test in window 1 (November 2026 to January 2027)? Practice is for you too, as soon as it opens.

You sit the six sections in this order. Each has its own timer.

  • Reading and comprehension: 10 questions in 30 minutes. English texts at B2 (upper-intermediate) level. CISIA says you need no special study for it.
  • Mathematics: 15 questions in 30 minutes.
  • Reasoning on texts and data: 15 questions in 30 minutes.
  • Biology: 10 questions in 20 minutes.
  • Chemistry: 10 questions in 20 minutes.
  • Physics: 5 questions in 10 minutes.

Our full practice tests will follow CISIA's rules:

  • Six sections in CISIA's order, each on its own timer.
  • No going back to a section you have closed.
  • +1 for a right answer, −0.25 for a wrong one, 0 for a blank.
  • An end screen with your right, wrong and blank answers for each section.

CISIA may make you stay in each section for a minimum time before you can move on. If its 2027 rules do, our tests will too.

Warm-up

Which number is the largest?

  1. 2¹⁰
  2. 10³
  3. 3⁶
  4. 5⁴
  5. 6³
Show answerHide answer

Answer: A

Learn a few powers by heart. 2¹⁰ is 1,024, just over 10³ = 1,000. 3⁶ is 729, 5⁴ is 625 and 6³ is 216.

Reasoning on texts and data

Harder: several steps

In 2025 a club had 200 members, and 30% of them were students. In 2026 it has 250 members, and 40% of them are students. By how much did the number of students grow?

  1. By 10%
  2. By 25%
  3. By 40%
  4. By about 67%
  5. By 100%
Show answerHide answer

Answer: D

Count the students first. In 2025: 30% of 200 = 60. In 2026: 40% of 250 = 100. That is 40 more students. 40 out of the first 60 is about 67%. A (10%) is the trap: it subtracts the two percentages.

We wrote these for this page, in the style of the test. They are not CISIA questions. "Harder" means harder than our warm-up, not a promise about the real test.

Your programme

Study only what counts

Your university decides which sections count. You will be able to practise just those. In the 2026 calls:

  • Economics at Tor Vergata, Trento (non-EU) and Ca' Foscari: Maths and Reasoning.
  • Polimi engineering: Maths, Reasoning and Physics.
  • Sapienza Sustainable Building Engineering and Bologna Pharmacy: every section.
Which CEnT-S sections counted in each university's 2026 call. Economics at Tor Vergata, Trento (non-EU) and Ca' Foscari: Maths and Reasoning. Teramo Business, open access: its OFA rule used Maths and Reasoning, and said nothing about the science sections. An OFA is an extra course or test if you score low. Polimi Engineering: Maths, Reasoning and Physics. Sapienza Sustainable Building Engineering, Sapienza Bioinformatics and Bologna Pharmacy in Rimini: all five sections. Reading is new. Calls for 2027/28 entry are not out yet.
Scoring

Know when to guess

A right answer gets +1. A wrong answer loses 0.25. A blank gets 0. In 2026 each question had 5 options. So a blind guess gave 0 points on average. With 5 options:

  • Know one option is wrong? Then guess.
  • No idea at all? A blank is just as good.
  • Our tests will show your right, wrong and blank answers per section.
Guess or leave it blank? Average points per guess. A blank scores 0. A blind guess with 5 options averages 0. With 4 options left: plus 0.06. With 3 left: plus 0.17. With 2 left: plus 0.38. A right answer gets plus 1, a wrong one minus 0.25, a blank 0. Our arithmetic uses 2026's 5 options per question. If you know one option is wrong, guess. One guess can still cost 0.25.
Your timeline

From today to test day

Read your programme's call

The call (bando in Italian) is your university's admission notice. Check which sections count. Check if it accepts the test from home.

Book your window

Five windows. You can sit once in each. Scores come by 29 Jan, 31 Mar, 31 May, 30 Jul or 17 Sep 2027. Pick the window whose score arrives before your deadline. Need a student visa? Earlier is safer. In 2025, booking for the first window opened on 4 November. The 2027 dates are not out yet, so check CISIA's calendar often.

Practise on the real rules

When practice opens: six timers, no going back, and real scoring.

Sit the test

You can sit once per window. Your raw score shows at once. The official score comes by your window's score date, in the step above.
